Last night Year 4 stayed at school for their class camping experience and sleepover. I was so impressed with how well the children behaved and they gave everything a go.
To begin with, in groups they each made a den using tarpaulin, rope and camping poles. They worked incredibly well as a group and all created a den that they could cook their meal in on a camping stove.
Next it was time to cook their choice of beans or spaghetti hoops. After a safety demonstration from Mrs Ewins they were ready to cook! Whilst the children prepared their beans or spaghetti, Mr Cockcroft cooked the sausages and burgers on the barbecue.
After they had eaten their tea it was time for team building activities, which included carpet tile challenge, water tower and plastic guttering challenge.
The children particularly enjoyed the water tower challenge, despite the fact they were all soaked!
After all the team building activities and team races, it was nearly time for bed. However before that it was time for hot chocolate and to toast marshmallows.
A huge well done to Imogen and Amelia V for their excellent fire making skills and well done to Leo and Max for their efforts too: despite finding it difficult, the boys didn’t give up!
Once the marshmallows had been eaten it was time for bed. All the children slept well and enjoyed their bacon and sausage barms this morning!
A huge thank you to Mrs Ewins who organised the sleepover, Mr Cockcroft and Mr Tomkins for staying over and Mrs Fielding and Mrs Scallan for staying after school.
