This blog post will act as a learning forum for pupils and parents providing a single point of contact for questions or queries about the work children have been set through the school website.

This is an important year and I would encourage pupils to try and ensure that (unless unwell) they practice a range of skills daily while at home:

  • Read Bookflix books and reading books (ideally 30 minutes a day)
  • World Book Online have a fabulous collection of over 3,000 eBooks and audio books available for free for children to access at home. Click here to access the link.

  • Time capsule activities: 1. Write a letter to themselves. Talk about their favourite TV show, song, books etc. 2. Write about their future self: talk about what they would like to be when they grow up, why and five things they want to do when they are an adult. 3. Draw a picture of their family. 4. If it is safe to, get a newspaper and let them cut out articles that they think would be important for their future self. Put them altogether in a box or scrap book and stick it up in the attic or somewhere you don’t usually go.
  • Explore story writing and sentence challenges with Pobble click here
  • Spelling shed– practice spellings to help with the year 3/ 4 word list.

    • Learn more about the amazing world of science by enjoying fun science experiments, cool facts, online games and lots of free activities. Click here

    Other topics

    • History – create a family timeline making sure events are in chronological order. Draw a picture for each key event and don’t forget to include the dates.
    • PE. Keep active, fit and healthy with a range of activities for 30 minutes a day. Joe Wicks is doing a free interactive workout every Monday- Friday morning from 9am on his you tube channel. Or why not try some cosmic yoga.

I look forward to reading parent and pupil comments about what you have been up to…

Parents can also view relevant whole school updates on the school website homepage.

I will keep a regular eye on comments made within this post and respond where appropriate.

For any further advice or support please contact Emails will be responded to within school hours.

    Thank you.

    Good Morning Year 3!

Year 3 try not to be scared,
from all the stories you may have heard.
I’m just writing because I want to say,
I’m thinking of you all each day.
I know you’re all looked after in your homes,
just remember that you are not alone.
    Please use this time carefully,
    have fun and learn creatively.
Don’t read now because you have to for a test,
instead let books take you on a quest,
Use this time for a new skill,
let new learning be a thrill.
Don’t idle the hours with wasteful things,
enjoy the fun new learning brings.
And hopefully it won’t be long,
until we are back at Heap Bridge where we belong!

    Stay safe!

Today I played all morning. I woke myself up by having a daring adventure in Narnia with Aslan and friends. I then did a days pack of school work, I accidentally didn’t see the answer sheet for the maths and wrote on a separate paper and I didn’t see the spelling sheet till the end of the pack and I actually used some old spellings. Hope to see you soon Mrs Wallsworth, you’re the best teacher.

Hi Mrs Wallsworth. Me and my brother have been doing PE with Joe every morning, some mornings my mum joins in too. I am enjoying see saw (apart from the videoing yourself bit) and I have joined Zoom so that I can see my friends while I talk to them. That is a lot of fun. I have been talking to my cousin aswell. Me and my dad have started watching science for kids on YouTube Let’s Go Live. It is very interesting and my dad is learning a lot!
I miss everyone at school and hope to see you all soon.

    Good morning,
We can’t seem to find the science experiment and the toilet roll challenge on Seesaw, could you point us in the right direction?
