Black History Month

October is Black History Month in the UK and it has been celebrated nationwide for nearly 40 years. This month was founded to recognise the contributions that all black  people have made to this country over many generations.

Wellbeing & Mindfulness

This term we have all been practising methods to increase our self awareness and self confidence through breathing and movement,  yoga techniques, peer massage and relaxation. Emotionally unwinding allows us to stay healthy and alert.

Noah’s Ark

Reception have listened to the story of Noah’s Ark and created their own collages. They made promises just as God made a promise at the end of the story….I wonder if they will keep them!!

Reflecting on our learning

The reception children had a lovely afternoon looking back over the last year and talking about everything they had enjoyed learning. They explored the big books about the different areas of the curriculum and looked at photographs of all the activities they had taken part in.

Jack and the Beanstalk Assembly

Reception performed in front of parents and grandparents this morning. I was incredibly proud of how confidently the children spoke and led the assembly without any prompting. Thank you to all the parents that came to watch, I am sure you all enjoyed it as much as the children did.

Directions using technology

The children have been learning how to follow and give directions using the Bee bots. They were able to move the Bee bot forwards, backwards, left and right. We are encouraging them all to continue to use these instructions in their play and at home.

Reception have an author visit

Reception had a wonderful time joining in with Anna and Sir Undercracker this morning. They listened carefully for the rhyming pairs, joined in with all the actions and learned lots of new vocabulary. I am sure the children will continue to enjoy exploring this book. Thank you Anna!

The Runaway Pancake!

Reception have been sharing the story of The Runaway Pancake. They have joined in with the story repetition and created the characters. Today they learned why we have Shrove Tuesday and talked about their favourite toppings on pancakes. We all enjoyed flipping and tasting the delicious pancakes.

Healthy Teeth in Reception

Reception have begun heir daily teeth brushing today. They know that they need fluoride from the toothpaste to help their teeth grow and remain strong and healthy. Afterwards the children nearly cracked the camera with their shiny white teeth!
