Super Science Workshop!

Reception and Key Stage One were amazed this morning by Adrian Bowden who demonstrated some exciting experiments and talked about properties of materials. They tested to see what would be the most waterproof material, discovered what material would make the softest cushion and mixed liquids to create enormous bubbles.

Party time!

Reception and Year one enjoyed a lovely morning of Christmas crafts in preparation for their party afternoon. Thank you very much to the PTA for their kind donations towards all the food and drink for the children. Everybody had a great time!

Key Stage 1 Nativity

This week we performed our production, ‘The Midwife Crisis’ for our parents, grandparents and other family members. We are very proud of our talented pupils who have worked hard to make  the play a huge success. Thank you for your continued support.

Materials in Year 1

In Science we have been finding out about materials and their properties. We really enjoyed our material hunt around school! Black History Month

October is Black History Month in the UK and it has been celebrated nationwide for nearly 40 years. This month was founded to recognise the contributions that all black  people have made to this country over many generations.

Wellbeing & Mindfulness

This term we have all been practising methods to increase our self awareness and self confidence through breathing and movement,  yoga techniques, peer massage and relaxation. Emotionally unwinding allows us to stay healthy and alert.  

Noah’s Ark

Reception have listened to the story of Noah’s Ark and created their own collages. They made promises just as God made a promise at the end of the story….I wonder if they will keep them!!

Reflecting on our learning

The reception children had a lovely afternoon looking back over the last year and talking about everything they had enjoyed learning. They explored the big books about the different areas of the curriculum and looked at photographs of all the activities they had taken part in.

Jack and the Beanstalk Assembly

Reception performed in front of parents and grandparents this morning. I was incredibly proud of how confidently the children spoke and led the assembly without any prompting. Thank you to all the parents that came to watch, I am sure you all enjoyed it as much as the children did.

Directions using technology

The children have been learning how to follow and give directions using the Bee bots. They were able to move the Bee bot forwards, backwards, left and right. We are encouraging them all to continue to use these instructions in their play and at home.  

Reception have an author visit

Reception had a wonderful time joining in with Anna and Sir Undercracker this morning. They listened carefully for the rhyming pairs, joined in with all the actions and learned lots of new vocabulary. I am sure the children will continue to enjoy exploring this book. Thank you Anna!

The Runaway Pancake!

Reception have been sharing the story of The Runaway Pancake. They have joined in with the story repetition and created the characters. Today they learned why we have Shrove Tuesday and talked about their favourite toppings on pancakes. We all enjoyed flipping and tasting the delicious pancakes.
